Mr. Rehan Ahmed
Director, Programs Administration, BOLD
Mr. Rehan Ahmed has joined Bangladesh Organization for Learning & Development (BOLD) as its Director, Programs Administration, with effect from July 1, 2021. Before joining BOLD, he was the Interim Director, Operations, and Director, Residential Semester Program of BRAC University.
While working at BRAC University, Mr. Ahmed played a vital role in scaling-up the Residential Semester Program; taking the program successfully from 100-student capacity to 1,000-student capacity every semester.
Besides, Mr. Ahmed made significant efforts to nurture students’ leadership skills, emotional intelligence, empathy, patriotism, ethical values, and their global competence. He took the lead in running some of the most ground-breaking, experiential learning activities effectively, ranging from reaching out to old homes and orphanages, to focusing on school outreach programs for the marginalized children, to mushroom cultivation training for poverty-stricken women, where BRAC University’s students could participate in these voluntary but life-changing experiences for the first time in their lives, helping them to begin bridging the social gap in society.
Furthermore, Mr. Ahmed was instrumental in establishing the institutional collaboration with ‘Ashoka Innovators for the Public’ USA-based non-governmental organization, founded by Bill Drayton; and thereby, raised a fund of USD 40,000 to set up the Centre for Emotional Intelligence and Innovation (CEII), BRAC University, where Ashoka contributed USD 30,000.
Mr. Ahmed represented the unique concept and model of BRAC University’s Residential Semester Program at the 2018 ASHOKA U Exchange in Boston, an annual gathering that brings together more than 700 higher education stakeholders that represent more than 150 colleges and universities around the world to collectively reimagine how colleges and universities can catalyze long-term change and social impact.
A very notable achievement of Mr. Ahmed (and his work), namely when he received the ‘Best Employee of BRAC University’ award for the year of 2016 presented to him by Late Sir Fazle Hasan Abed, KCMG, Founder of BRAC & BRAC University.
Mr. Ahmed completed his Master’s in Development Studies from BRAC University.
